Tea Love | Bird & Blend Tea. Co

I've promised this to a couple of you that I've converted into Bird and Blend Tea Co. (formerly known as Bluebird Tea Co. Mixologists) fans. Without further ado, here is my comprehensive list of their teas that I've TRIED and my personal opinion of each flavor so that you can take a look and decide if it's your "cup of tea". ;)

PUN 100% intended!! :D

Click here to read my initial "I love Bluebird Tea" rant.
What you should probably know about my tea preferences: (to best use my "reviews")

- I primarily drink green tea but enjoy black tea as well.
- I can drink white tea and rooibos without too much of a fuss, but they aren't my favorite.
- I do not care for chai in any form.

- I like tea and coffee equally.
- I typically drink both without cream / milk or sugar (though I'm definitely down to get a frappe or something at any given time).

- I don't typically follow the suggested steeping times on BBT packaging because I find the flavors too subtle, so I normally steep them longer (to my liking for each flavor).
- The cups I brew my tea in are substantially larger than what they base their servings (and complimentary teaspoon) on in the subscription box.

I have been a Teabird (their "fan") since sometime in late 2016.

Rolling Tea Subscription

Here is a description of the subscription box I get in the mail every month.

As a VIP member of our tea Tasting Club, you will receive three new loose leaf tea blends every month, through the letterbox without having to lift a finger! Each loose leaf blend will come in a 20g pack, enough to make up to 10 cups of tea.

Converted to USD, I pay (monthly) $9.90 for the box itself and $6.80 for shipping.

That might seem a bit much for some of you, but compared to how uncontrollably I used to buy Starbucks or Dunkin' Donuts products, this is 1) much healthier in the fact that I don't use sugar with these, and 2) more cost-effective in the long run as I still like having a "luxury beverage" at hand.

WARNING: their facility handles nuts, so for those of you with nut allergies, exercise caution

Here's the format I'll be using (for your understanding):
Brew Name

Description from the bag.

Opinion of blend's smell (from the bag)
Opinion of taste after I actually made and drank the tea

Recommended Bird & Blend Tea Co. Teas

This list will be updated as I receive more tea. I will only write them into the page when I've actually finished the whole bag. Some teas will contain more information than others simply because I've had some of these teas for a while and don't remember which box they came in. I will do my utmost to keep things updated though!

* = personal fave that I might actually reorder depending on funds

Blueberry Pancake
Described as "Guilt-free Pancake Day - a sweet blend of blueberries + blackberries"
Ing: Rooibos, freeze-dried blueberry, hibiscus, blackcurrant leaves, rosehip, apple pieces, elderberries, orange peel, mallow flowers, blue cornflowers, and flavor.

Personal Opinion (from the bag): the smell isn't really Blueberry Pancake-y, but like how you'd expect a sour blueberry candy to taste...but it's a smell...?
Personal Opinion (from the brewed tea): the color is kind of like a liquid blackberry, reddish / brownish / purple, and while there's a mellowness to its flavor like a pancake in your mouth, the tartness of the blueberries really comes through. It's not a sweet blueberry like the kind you'd gorge yourself on in handfuls, but like a nice, but little sour, blueberry taste. Not as fruity as I'd personally like though.

--

Cherry Lips
Described as "Sencha green tea with cherry and rose petals"

Personal Opinion (from the bag): Reminds me of Japan in a mochi / tea house shop kind of way. Absolutely divine. LOVE.

Personal Opinion (from the brewed tea): Tastes like a typical green tea, but the fragrance matches what I could smell from the bag. A little confusing in that I can't actually TASTE what I'm smelling though.

--

Lemonade
Described as "When life gives you lemons, brew lemonade."
Ing: Apple pieces, rosehip, lemongrass, orange peel, calendula petals, natural flavoring.

Personal Opinion (from the bag): It honestly smells like some kind of herbal lemonade.
Personal Opinion (from the brewed tea): A combination of green tea and a lemon warhead candy in liquid form. Basically :P If you're scared of sour things, you MAY want to pop some sugar in :)

--

Mulled Wine*
Described as "Delicious scents of clove, cinnamon, and orange in this mulled tea"
Ing: Hibiscus, rosehip, apple pieces, lemon pieces, orange peel, orange flowers, cloves, cinnamon, and flavor.

Personal Opinion (from the bag): basically apple cider + mulling spices, very Fall / Autumn in the feel of it, a nice turn-of-the-season kind of smell that really goes well with the image of falling leaves and the red+orange+yellow+brown+purple color scheme. Dare I say, more so than Pumpkin Spice? :P
Personal Opinion (from the brewed tea): Legit tastes like it smells. Apple cider + mulling spices obviously have a stronger taste, but this is a nice tea-based counterpart :)

--

Peach Cobbler
Described as "Sweet peach + warm, crusty pastry..."
Ing: Sri Lankan black tea, freeze-dried peach, pink cornflowers, natural flavoring.

Personal Opinion (from the bag): Smells like I just bought a bag of Peach Gummies or something lol XD
Personal Opinion (from the brewed tea): Tastes like your standard peach tea, but with an emphasis on the TEA part. The peach is more of the smell, not so much taste in my opinion. Be careful not to leave this one in for too long...it gets REALLY BITTER.

--

Raspberry Russian
Described as "Raspberry ripple rooibos, shaken not stirred"
Ing: Hibiscus, freeze-dried raspberry, apple pieces, rosehip, calendula petals, red cornflowers, and vanilla pieces

Personal Opinion (from the bag): Reminds me of a fruit gummy candy, but in a good way :) like I got the one for adults. lol

Personal Opinion (from the brewed tea): Same as the description above, but a little on the tangy side, as if someone had squeezed in some lemon. Mellow aftertaste leaves the tongue with that smacking feeling like you've had a green apple or something.

--

Rice Pudding + Jam
Described as "Childhood pud classic! Creamy with a dollop of sweet jam."
Ing: apple pieces, rosehip, hibiscus, Taiwanese oolong, Chinese white tea, cinnamon, desiccated coconut, blackcurrant leaves, natural flavoring.

Personal Opinion (from the bag): see below, smells like it tastes.
Personal Opinion (from the brewed tea): It is a VIBRANT dark pink concoction, slightly sour without sugar, but extremely fragrant in a Fall / Autumn sort of way. Delicious taste regardless of sugar or no.

Didn't Quite Care For

This list contains the ones I didn't care for and the reason(s) for it.

Snowball
Described as "coconut, chocolate + mini marshmallows"
Also contains Ceylon black tea, coconut pie, cacao bean, desiccated (can we just talk about this particular adjective? I LOVE THIS) coconut, mini marshmallows (contain gelatine), and chocolate chips (contain soya lecithin)

Personal Reason I Don't Like It: I feel like...as a coffee, this might work better, but I'm still on the fence about tasting chocolate in my tea. I'm also not a huge fan of coconut. Both of those flavors are prominent in this tea. So if you like both of those, this may be for you.

As always, here's their website if you'd like to try their products yourself.
This post is unsponsored, born solely from the fact that I love their product.
However, I'd highly recommend that those of us in the USA wait till stuff is on sale to make the best of shipping costs because shipping across the pond gets pricey :(

The next time you come round to my place, feel free to ask me to bring/make tea!
I would love to get someone else hooked on these delicious blends.
