Thor Ragnarok | #FeatureFriday

It's the first #FeatureFriday in a while and for good reason. THOR RAGNAROK.
I'm sure we've all seen the hype. The endless FB promos. The hundreds of different platforms sharing about the 14 (or whatever number, really) things you didn't know you missed in Thor! The 7 things that Marvel that that no one saw coming! Number 3 will make you kick yourself. Yadda yadda yadda. CLICK BAIT WORKS. It's the sad but true statement of the 2010s, everyone. Let's just accept that and move along.

Oh, but first:

-----------------------------------

"Loki / Tom Hiddleston"

Yep. Literally why I went. I like Thor well enough, but Loki/Tom Hiddleston was definitely a major motivation. I'm not even remotely sorry for this. Tom is a spectacular actor, is so well-spoken on and off camera, and pretty much has a heart of gold.

The fact that I got him and Benedict Cumberbatch in the same scene in the first 1/3 of the movie just makes my fangirling heart very happy. What can I say? I like my Brits :)

-----------------------------------

"The Valkyrie Flashback"

I loved how they pulled this off for many reasons.

1) Loki's memory pulling powers finally see the light of day. They had him manipulating minds all over the place (in previous movies) with him speaking to various characters, but this is really the first time he flat out pulls a painful memory forward.

2) The CGI of this was of epic proportions. Give me a Valkyrie army ANY DAY. The details of the pegasuses (pegasi?) was gorgeous and the armor was beautiful.

3) Way to cut down on unnecessary talking and exposition and just hit us in the gut with the amazing animation and feels, Marvel. Good job.

-----------------------------------

"Lightning Animation"

So, the CGI team for this movie deserves props for SO MANY REASONS, but the lightning animation on Thor whenever he entered GOD MODE was abso-freaking-lutely amazing and I have so much respect for this. I love love love how they put this together.

Cool image of Thunder God Thor that I found on Pinterest

"Hela / Cate Blanchett"
YAS.
Let's be real for a minute. You know I like my villains.
Namely my female ones. Two of my favorite actresses who bring these very bad ladies to life are Michelle Pfeiffer and Cate Blanchett. I was excited for CB the minute I heard she was cast for Hela because her Lady Tremaine from Cinderella was absolutely fantastic.
This idea of hair > helmet was cool. Kinda reminds me of Legend of Zelda's Midna with her hair hand lol XD

Stuff's about to go down, guys.

Here's the thing though, as much as I loved CB's acting for the role, I'm not a fan of how she looks with just the helmet and no hair. The helmet coming down under her eyes isn't the most flattering thing I've seen her in, and she's such a beautiful woman that I felt slightly disappointed that they didn't make her look amazing in "just helmet" mode. :(

Also, I couldn't find an image of this, but Hela with her wolf, Fenris, right when she said it again and she was all like "Darling, what have they done to you?" PET OWNER feels. I was done. I wanted to bring Sephy into the theater and snuggle with my cat every time that wolf came on the screen...Can we imagine Sephy as a giant man-slaughtering cat, though? It's pretty much him, just that he's tiny right now. lol XD

-----------------------------------

Anyway, IN CONCLUSION, worth watching.
Picking up the DVD when it comes out, for sure. Thor Ragnarok is something that I want to hold on to because it's a really good one, but not something that I loved to the point of wanting to run back into the theater to watch it again immediately (like Beauty and the Beast). It was great, I'm satisfied, and I'm a happy customer.
Anyhoo, I hope that I managed to keep things not too spoilery...?

Anyway, sister's back for the next week and Thanksgiving is coming up. Things are getting exciting around here! See you next #WeeklyWednesday!
