Food and Friends | #FeatureFriday2018

So, in my week of NO SOCIAL LIFE, I'd like to hearken back to the weeks prior...where there was good food, slightly less stress, and above all, good fellowship time with some quality characters :)

Red Lobster with Kim, Danae, and YunYi

This happened the day we got back from Champaign, so I'd been driving...basically the whole day lol It was just a 30 min drive to Marion though, so it was NOTHING compared to the 3 hour drive I had just completed. Given that we had gotten up around 7am, gotten back to C'dale around 12:30pm, I had work from 2 - 5pm and then met up with these ladies at 5:30pm, you could say my day was PACKED.

cheddar biscuits from RL are the BEST | we also got a lobster pizza-ish thing (it was eh) and the Boston Bay something that had a ton of seafood (delicious)

Our friendly waiter took our MGP (mandatory group photo) and we proceeded to enjoy dinner before driving home in the rain. Good food, good friends. I'm not complaining that I got wet. lol

Anu's Birthday (TA Office)

So after having one horrifying moment where a girl from our office didn't tell the rest of us that it was her birthday until one of us who knew her better walked in and said so, we put up a giant list of everyone's birthday on a whiteboard in the office. It has helped TREMENDOUSLY, we at least know to tell the person happy birthday (even if there's no gift). It's small, but the sentiment behind it is the same. We have SUCH a unique slew of characters in our office, we're able to genuinely be happy for each and everyone's birthday :) For those curious, there are 12 TAs in our office, along with our boss, the Online Specialist. Many of the others are graduating this May though, so I'm quite sad about it :(

Anu's (from Mongolia) birthday was April 16th, so one of the more generous TAs ordered Insomnia Cookies for the whole office. Anu unknowingly ordered the largest one! lol

She requested for the peanut butter chocolate chip one and when it showed up, it was TRIPLE the size of the other cookies. Talk about a delightful and delicious surprise! We had no candles on hand, so I suggested that someone grab a birthday candle app (I knew there had to be one in existence) and we sang her happy birthday. Maddi, who downloaded the app, had no idea how to make it "blow out", so she just hit the home button as Anu "blew out the candle". HILARITY ensues. lol XD

birthday girl!

happy birthday, Anu!

Harbaugh's with Daniel

You know you've made a good friend when they continue to hang out with you beyond the chapter in life that you shared. I have very few friends from childhood + elementary school that I'm still regularly in touch with, simply because we didn't have the many ways of communicating back then that we do now and when we DID connect on Facebook and such, it just wasn't the same (with the exception of a couple friends).

I'm amazingly still in close contact with a lot of high school friends and more sparingly with university friends (that aren't church related). This here is one of those university friends who decided to continue being friends. lol He lives in another town, and despite having attended SIUC, had never been to Harbaugh's...which is a terrible crime and I had to correct it. lol XD

Daniel with Stuffed French Toast

Eggs Benedict for me!

We had a little more time to kill and Dad had a mild craving for a cannoli from Cristaudo's (cafe / bakery in town), so we walked from Harbaugh's to go get it (we didn't in the end, because they don't make it regularly, which we didn't know). We'd paid (when we got there) for around 2 hours, so when we realized how much time we had to kill, we walked from Cristaudo's back towards Harbaugh's, made a 45 min detour through campus, and made it back to our cars. Good fellowship and catch-up, all in all, plus I'm pretty sure I walked off at least ONE of those eggs benedict from breakfast. lol XD

-------------------------

All right, back to my non-existent social life. I'm basically 95% in academic crunch-time life right now.

Hopefully I'll get a post or two up next week, but if not...you know why.

~ See you soon!
